Of course it is. Also there was a leaked document a couple of months ago
about actually getting rid of dishes and delivering it all via the internet so all those installers will not have a job. Of course anyone out in rural land might have something to say, but I gather 5G will sort all this out like some kind of magic solution. I have me doubts. Could it be that the new owners of Sky being a cable operator from the US have blinkered view of the market? Brian -- ----- -- This newsgroup posting comes to you directly from... Just been onto Sky about getting a new sky + box only to be told that they don't do them anymore & the only option is Sky Q at £199 or £40 plus £12 per month just for the privilege of having access to stuff I don't want. Now that's what I call a rip off. |

You can get a used Sky box for less than £20 with remote, mains lead,
and a guarantee from almost any branch of Cash Converters. If it has an expired subscription card in it then the card can be used for free-to-air (FTA) to ensure you get the right regions for BBC1 and ITV. If it hasn't you have two options: Get a Freesat-from-Sky viewing card which will cost you a once off £25 and get you all of the FTA channels including their HD versions; Run it without a card in which case you will get BBC1 London and ITV Central West (Brum.) In freesat mode you will have to pay Sky £10 per month to be able to record. If you don't want to record then look for a multi-room box also at CC. They are about half the size of a full Sky+HD box and much less than half the weight as they don't contain a hard disc drive. -- Woody harrogate three at ntlworld dot com |

That's not an ideal question, the MA where I live have said that no modification can be made to the current satellite feed to the flats (and they've put a lock on the door to enforce that rule) you get a standard satellite signal or nothing (suits me, I have freesat) tim |

Good idea Bill except that you cannot get all of the FTA channels on a Freesat box that you can get on a Sky box - Euronews for one. -- Woody harrogate three at ntlworld dot com |

I presume it was done by £ky as a lock in, but in blocks of flats etc. non standard USB's are a non starter. |
