Ron Purdue wrote: No wonder that the BUD is sadly, dying! The time will come that ALL services on C-band will disappear! All services on C-band, or all services in analog? There are more signals on C-band than 5 or 10 years ago, but more of them are switching to digital rather than analog transmission. In short term I think, the majority of cable type programming will leave analog, and a bit longer, not available to home vierwes when 4DTV support is dropped, leaving only the few analog and good number of DVB-FTA to view. |

(sigh). Whether a digital feed will be available is unstated. At this point in time, there's no 4DTV feed planned. Rumour has it, one of the providers is negotiating the HITS feed for 4DTV. |

What they carry now, pretty well. Someone is confusing the downfall of C-band as a whole, with the downfall of home C-band TVRO. What, exactly, *is* "home C-band TVRO" ?? Is it HBO and other cable programming? Is it sports and news feeds? Is it analog? Is it 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 digital FTA DVB? Is it 4DTV? Or is it a combination of the above? Those that only have interest in analog cable programming might see C-band TVRO in decline. Those with interest in the other aspects will not. |

It is nothing particular that is there, really (as much of it is for "industry", with home TVRO as extra to many of the industry participants. Home TVRO is more or less the buisness of providing hardware and programming to home dish owners. The most accurate description above would be 4DTV, since that relies on the cooperation of the C-band industry (namely cable broadcasters) as a whole to remain vialble, but the failure of 4DTV would not affect the the industry it relies on in a noticable fashion anyway. |

and we'd still have "some" analog plus "some" mpeg-2 fta,if not dc2(aka
4dtv_ fta even when that was gone,so contrary to all the FUD that's out there,C band even for BIG dish enthusiasts\hobbyists will be around for many years yet! Those who just want to watch tv can go pay(through the nose!) for cable and "cable on a stick!" C band TV Receive ONLY(TVRO) to us BIG dish owners has always meant "freedom" "choice" and "quality video" "Gary Tait" wrote in message ... Birds falling out of the sky any time soon. "Patrick Martin" wrote in message ... TVRO is changing. Like movings from the Victolla to a Stereo. Things change in this world. There are so many channels on 4DTV that are not available anywhere else. C Band is not dying, but analog is. Get into digital. It is fun. Patrick |
