SHVIA Mccain Bill PASSED!!!

It looks to me that about six hours ago the version of the Satellite
Bill that includes Digital White Areas and also allows for people to
receive both their local stations and distants at the same time has
passed!!!

Of course I have yet to review the final language of the bill, however
the message from Echostar does look very promising.

It does? According to Echostar, this only affects Echostar users in two
ways. First, all local channels will be on one dish within eighteen months.
Second, Echostar might at some time in the future be allowed to carry more
local channels, but ONLY IF all the local broadcasters drag their feet in
implementing HD broadcasts.

As a Echostar customer, I say . . . so what?!? Doesn't seem to make much of
a difference. If you already have two dishes, you can sell one of them
soon. If you don't get local channels now, you probably never will. -Dave
