Default Unwanted Guide Channels

This is a really strange problem. Basically I have set my directtv
receiver to only show certain channels. However, what happens is
that ppv channels plus some others show up on my guide. Apparently
directtv sends these. However, the problem lies when I go to change
the channel list in my profile. Usually I can delete either 1 channel
or more from the guide but then it stops deleting. However, I can
add channels to my guide but not delete. One solution is to take
another profile and delete the channels there and then copy that
channel list to the family profile. This is really strange. I also
have a directtv receiver in the basement so I thought that maybe the
receiver with the problem was defective so switched the receivers. I
have tivo in the basement so basically never look at the directtv
guide there. Anyway, to make a long story short the same thing
happened when I switched receivers. Both of these receivers are less
than a year old and other than the above problem work perfectly.

It just is aggravating to have to go thru unwanted channels on the
guide to see my selected channels.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanx

John

Some receivers have a limit as to how many channels you can add or
delete. On the RCA receiver I have it is 300. If you try to add or
delete more than 300 then the changes won't be saved.

The solution is to create the channel list by first either deleting or
adding all channels. If you want a channel list with just a few
channels then first use the Delete All option. If you want a channel
list with a lot of channels then first use the Add All option.

Using Delete All first will also prevent new channels (PPV, etc.) from
showing up in a list.

The only way I have found to prevent new channels from appearing on my
RCA list is to start with an empty list and add in channels. I also
maintain another list that will catch new ones.
