Default newbie 5.1/digital out question

Hello,

I have a question concerning audio for the dvd-receiver connection. My
receiver has 5.1 RCA connections only. I do not see any connections for
optical. My DVD player has a two channel (R-W) output and a digital
optical output as well as a single RCA Digital Output. I know I am
using RCA incorrectly but I don't know how else to describe the
connector. How do I go about getting that 5.1 channel output from the
dvd player in optical format to the 5.1 channel intputs on the receiver
in RCA format?

Thanks!
Terry

Sounds like you can't with this setup. You'd need a DVD player with 5.1
analog (RCA) outputs, or a receiver with a digital input. Are you sure
your receiver doesn't have a coaxial ('single RCA digital') digital input?
This would be a single input, not paired.
