How long does a former DirecTV customer have to NOT be a DirecTV customer to be eligible for "new customer" offers again? I believe Dish is 1 year. I heard DirecTV is *never*. I suppose you can sign under a spouse's name, etc. to get around it... I've heard, but cannot verify from personal experience, that DirecTV tracks these things very closely. Using a spouse's name is unlikely to fool them, because they'll notice that the address, telephone number, and perhaps the last name are the same as they've got on record, so that'll raise red flags. -- Rod Smith, http://www.rodsbooks.com Author of books on Linux, FreeBSD, and networking |

I don't know about Directv (although I have it now) , but for Dish (which I USED
to have) you're never a new customer once you've had service. They keep you in the database indefinitely, so they can slap you with a reconnection fee later. Nice, huh? For my cable company and cellphone provider, you have to not have service for 6+ months, then you are eligible to be a "new customer" again. Less than 6 months and I am a "former customer" and not eligible for the "new customer" deals. I'm just wondering if I cancel DirecTV, go to DishNetwork or cable for a year, and then if I decide I liked DirecTV the best, can I call them and be eligible for a "new customer" deal? |

I can tell you from personal experience that they keep your name a LONG
time. I was a DTV customer for a few years, switched to DISH for about 4 years, then came back to DTV. They would not give me a new customer promo. Paul "Nomen Nescio" ] wrote in message ...
