Aside from ESPN Gameplan, and the D.C. locals that I have now, what other
NCAA Football games could I get with DTV? I'm thinking of adding the sports pack to get the regional sports networks because I'm assuming they carry college football, but wanted to verify this. Also, how much duplication would there be if they do carry games, between that and the ESPN Gameplan? many thanks |

The rule of thumb is that anything that has a "premium sports pack" option (like ESPN Gameplan, or NHL Center Ice) will get blacked out on the RSN channel if all you have is the regular sports pack. -- Jeff Rife | 301-916-8131 | http://www.nabs.net/Cartoons/OverThe...taAndRotel.gif |

This is incorrect. The sports pack does indeed carry a number of college football games unavailable on Gameplan. If memory serves, you can get a number of Big12 games with the various Fox Sports packages. You also get a number of smaller regional schools. |

This is incorrect. I don't think so, and you seem to agree with me. The sports pack does indeed carry a number of college football games unavailable on Gameplan. Right, and because they are not part of ESPN Gameplan, they are not blacked out. The difference here is that other premium sports packs (MLBEI, NHLCI, etc.) include all games on the RSNs, while Gameplan does not. The OP was looking to see how much overlap the ESPN Gameplan games and the Sports Pack games would have, and the answer is zero. That is, you will *never* get ESPN Gameplan games on the RSN unless you have also paid for ESPN Gameplan. If memory serves, you can get a number of Big12 games with the various Fox Sports packages. This is because the football sports packs are the only ones where the "premium" is more than just a copy of the RSN feed. There are also PPV college football games that are purely Fox Sports Net...ESPN has nothing to do with them. -- Jeff Rife | 301-916-8131 | http://www.nabs.net/Cartoons/Dilbert/ActualCode.gif |

that is wrong. You will get espn gameplan games on the rsn but only the
local "espn extra or plus(whatever they call them) games." Like fox sports pittsburgh will pickup the espn plus games for teams like kent state, ohio u,or penn state if abc, espn, cbs,or espn2 is showing them. I don't think they are allowed to show these games on espn gameplan though. "Jeff Rife" wrote in message ... Who produces the game isn't important...they could be labeled ESPN Plus, or ESPN SuperDeluxe and you still don't get to see games that are on ESPN GamePlan on an out of market RSN *unless* you also pay for ESPN GamePlan, in which case DirecTV doesn't bother to block it out. None of this applies to your local RSN. The game might be on ESPN GamePlan, but if your local RSN is showing it, they you *should* get to see it there, although some hard to understand blackout rules apply. -- Jeff Rife | 301-916-8131 | http://www.nabs.net/Cartoons/Dilbert/TechSupport.gif |

i believe if you get espn gameplan you get all games on gameplan(even the
ones covered by fox sports net) if i'm not mistaken. "Jeff Rife" wrote in message ... michael d ) wrote in rec.video.satellite.dbs: that is wrong. If the game is shown on one of the GamePlan channels, then it doesn't matter *where* it came from, who filmed it, etc., because ESPN has paid for special "out of market" rights, and you cannot see it anywhere out of the markets that it is intended for. In some cases, a game is blacked out for certain subscribers on ESPN GamePlan channels because their local RSN has the rights. This blackout can occur even if that RSN isn't actually showing the game. But, once again, if a game is on a GamePlan channel, you cannot see it on an out of market RSN *unless* you subscribe to GamePlan. The only reason it shows up on the out of market RSN channel is because the DirecTV knows that it doesn't matter where you watch it...it's the same feed. -- Jeff Rife | Al Go To my left, you'll recognize Gary Gygax, 301-916-8131 | inventor of Dungeons & Dragons. | Gary Gygax: Greetings it's a... | [rolls dice] | Gary Gygax: ...pleasure to meet you. | -- "Futurama" |

I thought they were asking, "can I get college football without Gameplan?" Didn't realize that some of the RSNs carry ESPN+ games. |

If you dont mind replays, there are a lot of college football replays on
sunday and even some throughout the week available with the regular sports pack. These are replays of games that are only available live with the ESPN Game plan, but the replays are not blacked out.
