Default Component video connection

Hi,

I am somewhat new to HT and my questions might seem very basic. I want
to find out the possibility of having a component video connection
between a Pioneer DV 360 DVD player, the Denon AVR 1603 and a TV that
accepts component video IN.

The DVD player has a scart out - RGB (I think this is component video
after refering a website
http://techtronics.com/uk/shop/510-h...vd-player.html).
The details of the connections can be seen at
http://techtronics.com/uk/shop/50-pi...vd-player.html

The Receiver has component-IN in the form Y.Pb/Cb.Pr/Cr. The details
of this can be seen at
http://www.usa.denon.com/catalog/pdfs/avr1603.pdf.

Is what I want possible. If yes, what connectors do I need to buy? The
TV component input is the same as the one on the receiver.

Next, if using s-video, how do connect the system? The TV accepts
s-video IN via the standard s-video socket. I gather a s-video connect
from dvd player to the s-video in of the receiver is the first step,
but how do i send the video signal to the TV? I can't see any output
at the back of the receiver which clearly says TV - although there is
the 'Monitor' out.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to the product manuals at this
point in time. I am currently traveling (in Germany where getting
information from salesmen can be rather tiresome) and need this
information to make some buying decisions.

Many thanks.

According to the documentation, your DVD player has RGB out, which is *not* the
same as component video. You need a transcoder to change the signal from RGB
to component (Y Pr Pb). Search on www.avsforum.com for "transcoder" to find
out where to buy one.

As for connecting the S-video through your receiver, connect the S-video out on
your DVD to the TV s-video connection on your receiver, then connect the
Monitor s-video connection on your receiver to the S-video in on your TV. Make
sure that your receiver's TV input is selected and make sure that the correct
input on your TV is selected.
