how many channels can Tivo records simultaneously ?

How many over-the-air channels (via rooftop antannae) can a Tivo
record simultaneously ?

Tivo can only record one channel at a time over antenne. The DirecTivo units
can record too. Most of my friends who have cable purchase several Tivos.

Remember - a standalone TiVo can record *one* OTA NTSC channel at a
time, a normal DirecTiVo can record *zero* OTA channels as it only
records satellite, an the HDTV DirecTiVo can record *two* OTA ATSC
(not NTSC) channels at a time.

Don't bother buying several non-HD single tuner Tivo's. Just
have your cable company deliver and install their cable DVR for free.

If it's Comcast, you're in luck. The 2 tuner Motorola unit is great.
If not, it won't be long before your cable company get's their product
in line. It's only software and before long it will be standard for
all settop boxes.

Define 'won't be long' - the SA8000 still blows, and it has been a
year.

Define 'won't be long' - the SA8000 still blows, and it has been a

The way Cable companies operate, with what they perceive to be a captive
audience they think they have no reason to improve the SA8000.
