Default RCA DVR80 DirecTV+TIVO Unit - Home Network?

I can't seem to find any information on hooking this unit up to my home network. DirecTV customer service, as usual, is useless.

All I would like to do is hook this thing up to my home network. It has USB ports on the back as well, so I assume it is a series 2 DVR.

Is it as simple as adding a Linksys USB200M network adapter, hook the thing up to my dsl router and go from there? Isn't there software to install on another computer on the network so you can control the TIVO unit remotely?

If anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it.

You assume incorrectly.

Offically only standalone models are 'Series2'.

DirecTV has elected to disable the USB ports on all of their units.
You cannot connect them to a network without hacking them. And
complain to DirecTV about it.

Those USB ports are disabled. DirectTV TiVo's can not be networked, at least not at this time.
