Default Switching cards to make call.

I have two Tivos but one has a bad modem and cannot make the call. Can I
pull the card out and put it in the other Tivo, make a call and then
replace it in the original machine?

If that doesn't work I will probably forget about making the call on the
first machine. I don't order PPV and using an external modem or getting the
unit fixed seems like a negative return.

The modem in a TiVo is not a removeable PCI card. Instead, the modem
hardware is soldered to the motherboard. The modem can be repaired:

you can also add an external modem and connect it to the serial port. see
this long thread. it is no big deal to get going.

What card are you referring to? There is no modem card in a TiVo.

If the "card" is the DirecTV access card in your DirecTV DVR, that card
won't work in another DVR. Call DirecTV and see if you can get a new DVR
for a good price.
