Default dvd position memory feature - yamaha dvx-s120

I just bought a yamaha home theater in a box system. I haven't even
opened the speaker box yet but I am already displeased with a feature
on the DVD/receiver. If I power off in the middle of DVD play and then
power it back on, it starts from begining! same is true for vcds and
audio cds. For dvds and vcds you can press stop button and then play
(without powering off) and the memory feature works. For audio cds no
matter what you do, it always starts from begining (after stopping).
This player (DVR-S120) is sophisticated enough that it allows you to
setup child lock on certain DVDs (they say it remembers the ID of that
DVD) and a variety of programming features but this simple feature
that I very much want to have, isn't there. I even tried pressing the
play button in power off mode (with hope that it might resume play
where I stopped)+ and it doesn't work - you need to turn power on
first. Are there players in HTIB systems that memorize position
between power off and power on?

I don't know of too many stand-alone players that will go thru
complete power-down and resume play. My Sony SACD won't. Toshiba DVD
won't. Panasonic HDD won't.

My Yamaha S1200 does.

Most do these days. Just hit stop once then power down. Works for many
current Sony, Toshiba, JVC, Samsung, and Hitachi models.

I guess I misunderstood his original problem. Oh well. So much of Monday!

My Panny RP91 does also. Great to be able to just hit the power button
1/2 way through the movie, then just hit play the next night and it
picks right up.

hitting stop, powering it down and powering it back up doesn't resume
where it left off. It is so stupid of them to leave out this feature.
I guess I will have to return it.
