I'm an enthusiastic TiVo owner of three weeks, but after adjusting my
remote-control speed setup twice (from "fast" to "slow" to "medium") the TiVo still seems to have trouble switching to certain channels on my dig. cable box through the IR blasters. I finally got it where it's accurate nearly all the time, and the only shows I miss now are on channels that end with double-1's (-11). I wonder if anyone has noticed a glitch with the way the IR blasters enter double 1's or double numbers. For instance, I've wondered if there are two blasters because each takes turns entering numbers, and double numbers are seen by a cable box as merely one number pressed for a long time by a person using the remote. I've meticulously placed my IR blasters 1-1/2 inch from the box, and as I said it's nearly totally accurate now except for Fox (011) and a premium channel (211). I re-created the problem by switching from channel 10 to 11 with the Channel Up button, and the cable box failed to change once out of half a dozen tries. |

Try unplugging the IR Blaster you have been positioning and see how that works. -- Lenroc |

... What model cable box? It's a dark-gray General Instruments dig. cable box; I've had it two years. I'm afraid I can't tell the model No. without opening up my ent. center and fighting through the cables. Comcast has new Motorola boxes with a serial port in the back, and I may request one of those so long as they haven't disabled the port with their software. |

A minor nit, but software is not needed to disable a serial port. Serial port enabling software might not be provided. |
