one minute recording overlap?

Discovering my way around my new Hughes DirectTV TiVo, it seems to me that
when I select a program to record, TiVo records it plus one additional
minute. I am not certain of this and am therefore inquiring as to whether
this is true. Would this affect recording 2 programs on different channels
that immediately follow each other?

If it is true, is there a way to remove this 1 minute additional recording?

10-11 show, it forces you to choose the 9-10 show, or the 10-11 show with a

It has much less to do with recording the shows and much more to do with
ad revenue. There simply arent enough people using DVR or time shifting
in general for them to really care about screwing them.
