I'm having some electrical work done this weekend that may cause my power to
be out for a few hours. Will all of the programs I have recorded on my DirecTivo as well as my Season Passes and all of the other settings still be there when the power comes back on? Are things like that written to the hard drive or is there a power reserve that would eventually run out unless the power comes back on within a certain time? You should not lose anything during a power outage. It is all on disk, and fairly robust. -- --- Clarence A Dold - Hidden Valley (Lake County) CA USA 38.8-122.5 |

Yes and yes, however, I would unplug it prior to the power being shut off
so it does not have that hit when the power is restored. I have mine on a UPS and sometimes that is not even enough for the HDTV to not power cycle during surges. TM "Ray" wrote in message ink.net... According to Ray : :I'm having some electrical work done this weekend that may cause my power to :be out for a few hours. Will all of the programs I have recorded on my irecTivo as well as my Season Passes and all of the other settings still be:there when the power comes back on? Will you be around when the power is scheduled to go out? If so, or if you don't mind possibly missing a few tapings, then just use the tivo standby mode (under settings) - I believe I read this is the equivalent of havingg Tivo shut down. It does mean, however, that tivo won't record things from that point until the power goes out (if you were to put tivo into standby in the morning because you were going to be away while the power was out). Also, if the tivo is put into standby, and then the power goes out, will the return of power bring tivo back up? If not, what does? -- URL: http://wiki.tcl.tk/ In God we trust. Nope, the standby option simply turns off the outputs and allows the RF signal to pass through, some people have used this feature to connect to their TV and view there normal Calbe Analog feed. Tivo continues to record the Live buffer and also records any recordings that you have scheduled. I am not sure about suggestions, they might not continue to record in StandBy. |

DTivos do get their time from the satellite, which can cause problems because some of the transponders have had incorrect time in the past. For example, some people reported their clock being off after the TiVo was tuned to some west coast locals. -- Alan Shutko - I am the rocks. What do turkeys do when the wind DOESN'T blow? |
