Will Mulloy shaped the electrons to say:
I've come home and noticed my TV tuned to Discovery Channel more than
once, and I am certain I was watching another channel the night before.
I have suggestions disabled at the moment, and still it happens. I
don't get it. Why's it changing, and why always to Discovery?

TiVo has a deal with Discovery for two things:

- Service Data Downloads. This is some of the guide data, and
probably other data the system uses (aggregated thumbs info for the
suggestion engine, etc), for the system. This saves on phone time,
if the unit can't get the SDD it'll have to get all this via the
phone. They were also testing sending out software upgrades this
way, IIRC, since those take a LONG time on the phone.

- TiVo Central Promotions - aka the Gold Stars in the main menu. When
you see movie promos, ads, etc, in the main menu with video content
- that came from Discovery. Same for any Showcases with video
content.

You can find these in the guide as Teleworld Paid Programming and
Advanced Paid Programming.

I think my Tivo 1 did this. I called Tivo and why I woke up to disc, and
they said something like it gets some it's program info from there late at
night. I informed them that my bedroom tivo does not control a satellite box
and this is very annoying to wake up to a blank screen in the morning. They
did something to my account now where I never have that happen anymore. I
guess it's something that can be turned off by request.

Hi,

I've noticed something weird.

I've come home and noticed my TV tuned to Discovery Channel more than
once, and I am certain I was watching another channel the night before.
I have suggestions disabled at the moment, and still it happens. I
don't get it. Why's it changing, and why always to Discovery?

this is getting annoying, but if I knew what was going on, i'd feel at
least more understanding.

I sometimes use my VCR to record a program when my tivo's full, which
requires i set the channel where i want it and leave it there.

An hour's worth of Discovery isn't always what i want.

My mom doesn't know how to turn my tv on, so I know it wasn't a human.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Any insight you can provide is great.

Thanks,
-Will

Subject: Tivo Series 2 mysteriously tuned to Discovery channel?

We have a Series 1 TIVO, and it reverts back to the Discovery Channel every
night, whilst we sleep; I think it's kinda cool ;-)
