Default What is my TiVo worth?

I currently own a TiVo Series 1, Phillips 30 Hour, one of the first original
Tivo's with LIFETIME Subscription. I'm thinking of upgrading and trying to
figure out the worth of the current unit so that I can put it on e-bay, or
want ads.

Please let me know what you all think,
Thanks,
Chris

The beauty of Ebay is that it will bid up to its value. With lifetime
subscription maybe $375.

$350 or better would be a good estimate.

And how much would one be out replacing it if the Tivo failed in 6 months?
I don't think you can transfer the lifetime service to a new unit, but
even if you can, you'd have to spend another $150 for a new S2 wouldn't
you? So now youi're out $500 for what could have been bought new for $450.
And if you have to pay for a new sub with the new unit, you've lost the
whole $350 for the very old used unit. Is this not correct? If so, then
I'd say the value of the old unit is $75 for HW, and $120 for the cost of
a year of service and hope the unit last that long without a meltdown.

Philips will repair their TiVo's for no more than $100. Usually they send you
a different, refurbished unit. Your lifetime sub would be transferred to the
new (refurbished) unit. In fact, Philips will upgrade the hard drive for your
at the same time, (if you desire).
