Default iplayer cock-up

We just tried to watch Mastermind on iplayer, which we have done before
with no problem. It demanded we had to sign in but if we didn't have an
account to go to an address on a smart device and follow the listed
procedure. On entering the site on a tablet the requirments bore no
relation to what was stated (enter this code etc) so we couldn't get
in. We watched it on the PC instead with no problem. What's going on?

They have idiots in charge. I think I pointed out out how inept things are a
couple of weeks ago with the mess they have made of AD.Actually had to ring
them to get it sorted out.
I despair when you consider in the old days, BBC engineers and techies were
second to none.

I have usually been able to avoid signing in although I do have an account.
