Contact the shop that sold it. It might be still in warranty?

If not, ask them if they know a repair place, and if someone there can
give an estimate on the cost.

Don't laugh. Twice we've had electronic things purchased from John Lewis
fail, and they have unfailingly recommended repairers that have done a
great job of getting the items working again with manufacturer parts,
and no hassle.

Well, according to the header this was in reply to a post dated 17
August 2014 with the same subject.

That post was about the Sony ICF-SW1 radio, with the usual distorted
sound problems due to aged capacitors. I've no idea why the reply was
3.5 years late and just asked another question about a different Sony
product!

Does anyone recall who did this repair? I'm in the US and my little SW-1S is doing this now. I don't mind sending it to the UK if there's a chance the fix can be done.

Care to elaborate as we cannot see the original post. quote some if you can.
