Default Help ... new (refurbed) Panasonic SA-HE200 problem

Before I call Panasonic, I figured i'd throw this out ...

I just got my refurbed Panasonic SA-he200 from J and R today. I let the unit
get to room tempuraturre (it was very cold when it came from UPS) and hooked
everything up. I have a AudioSource sytem 230 speaker set, I hooked up the
speakers properly and the first thing I did was to run the test tones, as
the manual described. everything worked except the SR channel. I removed and
replaced the speaker leads to that speaker, same problem. Then I swapped the
rear speakers, the speaker worked when connected to SL. Next, I cut a new
length of speaker wire, and connected the speaker with the new wire to the
SR speaker out put, and it still didn't work.
I played a DVD in digital mode, the new Led Zeppelin dvd, and still no sound
from SR, but SL worked fine.

I don't have a Surround back speaker attached. However, in the course of
troubleshooting, I did conenct the speaker to SB, and SB works fine with the
test tone. I think I covered everything.

I also noticed when testing with a VHS tape that DPL II didn't seem to work
properly, the best I could get was sound coming only from the Right front
speaker in any of the DSP modes.

I did have my old Pioneer CS-77s plugged int to B out puts, which worked
fine.
I do have an audio source EQ100 plugged into the tape ports. I did make sure
I was not in tape monitor while testing this.

Have I missed any troubleshooting steps? Does this sound like a defective
unit? Perhaps buying a refurb wasn't a great idea after all, but it was just
$199. FWIW I chose this unit because it has Phono input, AND a tape monitor
loop.

Thanks
K

I don't think that you can shut off the SR or SL speakers individually,
so maybe the volume is turned way too far down on the SR speaker. Then
again, maybe not.

This doesn't sound good.

Does this sound like a defective unit?

The DPL II is definitely not working properly.
