Racist? No, just ****ed off with being sold a false image of Britain.

You're simply of a certain age.

Ageism! Worse than racism! Hang your head in shame!

The majority of your life you'll have presumably been familiar with a certain
demographic as reflected in say "Heartbeat"* and that's the demographic
you feel most comfortable with.

That obviously doesn't apply to everyone of your generation who may have
had wider experience; but it clearly applies to you which is all that
matters in this context.

You don't know what I've done and who I've met. Do you think I've lived in a village
and never left it? All my working life I've been mixing with all classes and types of
people. I worked in London for TV companies of many different nationalities, along with
other contractors from all over the world. I worked extensively in the prison system,
in Category A jails, often eating and chatting with lifers, rapists, arsonists,
paedophiles, and murderers, many of whom were black or brown. I worked for local
authorities and housing associations, going into flats where I had to have two people
to guard me, and in areas that were almost entirely Somali or Pakistani. I worked in
several secure hospitals, amongst people whose illness made them extremely dangerous. I
had a maintenance contract for years at a Gurkha barracks. I was a schoolteacher in an
area of severe social deprivation.

But clearly you've never come across many black newsreaders before.

So don't you patronise me by saying I don't know life, because I've seen a lot more
life than you.

Yes but clearly not quite as many black newsreaders as I have.

Which I believe was your original point ?

Yes it means I've had time to learn a lot.

Not really.

All that happens is that you increasingly focus on those aspects
of your experience which tend to re-inforce your existing attitudes.

Which isn't to say that those attutudes are necessarily fixed for life

Neverthless as a person gets older there's more often a tendency
for a person to become increasingly dissillusioned with life than to
become increasingly optimistic about the future. Which can then
colour the way they choose to see things.

Or to put it more bluntly if you had more things in life to feel happy
about, even if only as a result of making a conscious effort,
then you wouldn't feel the need to be worrying about such relatively
trivial issues as to who, or what appears on the TV.

Patronising ..../.Moi ?...

You seem incapable of understanding that my complaint is not about race,
colour, culture, or where people come from. It is purely about this
current craze the broadcasters have for using a disproportionate number
of black/coloured people. My objection to this is not because I dislike
people based on their race, colour, culture, or where them come from, it
is because I dislike being treated as a child by the broadcasters;
having their world view and their prejudices foisted upon me every time
I turn the telly on.

That's hair. Check out the baldy patch at the top of his head.
I'll bet that's even whiter than yours is, given he's at least got

Had he spent any time in a laboratory I'll bet that chimpanzee
could have achieved a better understanding of the meaning of the
concept "all" simply as a result of a result of pushing a few
buttons and getting rewards, than you seem to have managed in what
is it, 60 years ?

I quote

"all the monkeys and apes are dark skinned"

We know "Rod" is stuck for a proper reply when he starts insulting you.

Corse you arent insulting me, eh hypocrite ?

Also he will reply in tiny fragments in order to
bury the points from the discussion he can't answer.

I always reply in bits to the relevant bits, ****wit.

What newspaper do you suggest?

Generally, not a newspaper - although any of the broadsheets will tend
to get you in the ballpark of a decently robust description (like
Wikipedia). I'm not so sure TV should ever be relied upon - exceptions,
obviously. News media is generally just a rolling journal with often
wobbly descriptions and quite hectic and biased analysis and criticism.
But all the same not a bad way to get a quick/cruel description - at
least of some of the 'peak' perspectives.

Getting a meta-view of news media is therefore time consuming and not
especially relaible. cOn the topic we're looking at here (media and some
notion of inverse racism) maybe a university reading list*. It's often
an idea to read authors with opposing views, and firm things up by
taking a closer look at their sources. Book reviews are also a valuable
way of

Your local library catalogue or even Google Scholar.

But really more important than asking what to read etc, an open mind is
the most important thing. Followed closely by enthusiasm. Techniques
come later.

Like you can see through hair ?

Shame about his big pink ears and the baldy patch on top of his
head though. There's even videos of pink bald chimpanzees on Youtube

"all the monkeys and apes are dark skinned."

Japanese snow monkeys

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/20.../#.W2QE9ilS8wo

They go from pink to red depending on how hot the water is

Life is too short to post any more.

In fact it appears that the suggestion that all monkeys and apes are
dark skinned is not only completely wrong but is a myth with racist
overtones. On one interpretation of the evidence it seems possible
that early men were fair skinned and possibly covered in hair
just like most of our nearest genetic cousins the chimps are, even
today.

Although obviously having been educated in a deeply racist country
such as Australia you'll have been fed this "dark skinned" myth
since childhood.

And so on this ocassion at least there is at least some excuse for
your profound and deep seated and total ignorance of the topic.

In fact living in Australia at all, thousands of miles away from
the nearest civilisation (not Chinese civilisation obviously but we
don't want any truck with that kind of thing, do we ?) must consititute
some kind of an excuse for most things. More especially where you
live, stuck by a telegraph pole next to a railroad track in the middle
of nowhere. As obviously a mere two weeks spent in Earls Court in 1970
whenever it was, can't have been expected to have had that much effect.
