Default get_iplayer v3.07 problem with --available-since hours)command

I've just updated get_iplayer via the ubuntu PPA (using Linux Mint 17.1)
and the "--available-since hours" command no longer produces any
listings, nor even an error message.

I've checked out the documentation and the FAQs but can't find an
answer. I've tried the cache rebuild command and even restarted the
computer but all to no avail.

The previous update to v3.06 just over a month ago didn't break
anything, unlike a previous version update several months ago did so I'm
a little disappointed to see this problem re-emerge once more.

Do any other get_iplayer users have a solution to this problem?

Even after a further update one week on, the problem remains unresolved
and still no sign of any discussion in the forum. Apparently I, and I
alone, am the only user to have noticed this issue. :-(

Seeing as I landed up answering other get_iplayer users' problems
(You're welcome!) without any working solutions to my problem being
offered, I seem to be *the* only get_iplayer "Guru" in this NG.

Since I'm *not* a Guru (merely a get_iplayer user subscribed here with
maybe the most experience), I decided to post my question to ucol in the
hope that I might find an answer there. Unfortunately and much to my
surprise, I got absolutely no response whatsoever.

Since I'm still none the wiser as to whether I'm facing a bug in the
newest versions of get_iplayer or possibly something inherited from the
previous configuration that's upsetting the --available-sincehours
search command, it looks like I'll have to make do for the time being,
with piping the search results into a text file from which to take note
with pencil and paper a list of the index numbers from which I can
transcribe into the --get space separated list of indices of the
programmes I want to fetch. A bit kludgy but better than creating a list
of comma separated PID numbers to copy and paste onto the tail of the --
force --pid command.

Default get_iplayer v3.07 problem with --available-since hours)command [SOLVED!]

It turns out that the problem was an undocumented change to the syntax
involving the need to append a search string argument after the HOURS
parameter, e.g. get_iplayer --available-since 5 .* to get it to actually
*show* the results of *everything* added during the last 5 hours. Without
that .* search string, the command no longer shows anything as it used to
do by default.

My thanks for this 'fix' goes to Andy Furniss in the ucol NG a couple of
days ago.

I can still download programmes using the --PID pid number command
but this involves a little more faff. It's either download each
programme by PID separately or else copy and paste PIDs from the
Beeb's schedules web pages into a space separated list in a text file
until I've assembled a complete list of programmes I wish to download
which I then copy and paste as the tail to the --PID command.

My personal method is to find the programme I want on the BBC iPlayer
website, then copy the URL. This is then inserted into the command line
instruction derived from the last time I used get_iplayer, with its URL
deleted. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I find it works fine
for me. And I don't usually download more than one programmes at a time.

Me too. Use the website to find the PID and then use --pid with it (with
--pid-recursive from a batch file that automatically runs every three
days if I want to fetch a whole series).

I don't bother with series downloading, so I find that just copying and
pasting the whole URL works fine. No fiddling with pid numbers at all.
Whatever suits is the best method.
