Default Help with 2nd line

I have an rca dvr39. Unfortunately it will be impossible to get a second
line to record and watch something else. Is there any device that will let
me split the signal into 2 lines from the line coming from the wall, like we
used to do with cable tv?

Yes, a stacker, and then destacker, but you're looking at $300.

Were you wired up by DirecTv? You're entitled to that for free.

A Diplexer is for mixing two unlike signals (say OTA and sat). You are
looking to mix to same signals (2 sat signals). Different beast.

AFAIK, a diplexer will only let you split disparate signals (i.e. the
"Satellite" signal, and an "Antenna" signal, for 'regular' TV) that were
on the same line.

You can't easily (without significant cost) run two satellite lines on the
same cable because it's not as simple as carrying video signal, there is
also current (voltage) involved...

(I'm learning by reading this group, hopefully I've picked up enough that
nothing in this post is incorrect...)

Not really, no. You cannot simply split a satellite downfeed via a
passive splitter or amplifier - it won't work properly.

The only exception is if you have a "stacked" satellite system -
sometimes used for single-dish setups in big hotels and apartment
buildings. A stacked feed _can_ be split (which is good) but you need
a relatively expensive "unstacker" for every tuner input, and a
stacker up at the dish.
