I'll have access to a Sky box tomorrow, I'll try it

From what's been posted here, it works for others.

....and it worked for me.

you could just as well ask why you can stream on demand on a freesat box
but you can't on a sky one.
different ways of doing the same thing - with sky they download the
program to the hard drive for playback, with freesat it streams.
both give you the opportunity to watch the show in x number of days.

don't think that's true, with sky I can watch at any time, until it self
destructs. With freesat I have to decide to watch and then do it.

if you record it yes.
but if you download it from the on demand section.....
obviously not anything you're actually paying for.

If I download from the on demand section it asks whether I want to
d/load hd or sd and records it to disk.

and if you then go to the guide and look at the item, in the program
info at the top of the page it will say 'this program will be deleted at
10pm on the 4th june for example.
just tried it with an iplayer show.

Haven't seen you on here for quite some time!

Thanks Paul. I lurk whenever I can these days, just thought I'd chip in with
this tidbit of welcome and long overdue news. :-)

Welcome news indeed.

Unfortunately, channel 5 programme commissioners "make you laugh out
loud".

Why are all the ITV channels except ITV 1 not HD on freesat and freeview
? it's because they are under contract to sky as was 5 until their
contract ran out.

ITV choose to earn revenue by having all but ITV1 in HD behind a paywall
on satellite.

How do you pay to watch all ITV channels in HD on Freesat?

Err, you don't/can't

OK :-)
How dos one access what is behind the pay wall assuming you are willing to pay?

Presumably you'd have to have a Sky basic sub.
