You might be better off changing the batteries in your head.

I can't do that myself because when I'm looking in a mirror I always
turn the screws the wrong way.

The same sentiment is being expressed in other groups.

It appears the various Usenet servers are vexed with each other, and
not talking.

The digital equivalent of Claire Rayner is being dispatched.

Just recently, I seem to be going left handed. IE I find it easier to do and
undo screws with the driver in my left hand. What does this mean?
Bit worrying. Senior moment again.

It's easier to apply more torque anticlockwise than clockwise by using
a screwdriver in the left hand, which is presumably why screw threads
go the way they do, as the requirement to put screws in will be more
frequent than the requirement to remove them. I suppose the muscles of
the arm and hand just happen to favour this direction by chance,
because it's not likely our ape ancestors evolved to use screwdrivers.

Then sometimes the location of a particular thing just happens to be
easier to reach with the left hand, so it would be awkward to
manipulate it any other way.

But if you're finding that everything is suddenly easier to do the
other way round, that's strange, unless it's actually a weakness in
your right arm or hand. I would suggest you try to check if that's the
real reason, though I'm not sure how best to do it objectively. Maybe
you could get one of those flatbed type digital kitchen scales and
squeeze it as hard as you can between fingers and thumb, and that
would give an indication of grip strength. Ideally you'd want to check
maximum torque in both directions too. Maybe somebody has an idea how
to do this?

Definitely!

Years ago I had a phone call from a colleague - PC illiterate despite
being a PhD Geologist. He was having trouble saving a file he'd
downloaded. After a frustrating two minutes of conversation he said
'OK I'l spell it out again. I've downloaded this file and I need to
save it on my hard drive from where it is at the moment.'

Asking him where he thought it was he replied, 'Well that's obvious -
it's in the mouse at the moment!'

Do you mean you have more dexterity or more strength in your left hand?

Bill
