it will continue to prosper whilst there are enough fools to shop there

It isn't doing anything illegal, so I can't see what can be done

I used to spend a proportion of my working life fitting
slot-meters to the back of TV sets so people with bad credit
ratings could be changed more for renting a TV than the rest of
us.

69.9% and 100% APR offers

as long as it has calculated these APRs correctly

in what way is that illegal?

It's not.

It's apparently not illegal to create a business that preys on
disadvantaged folks, those unable to make rational choices about value
for money and necessity.

It's also not illegal to walk up some similarly vulnerable persons
garden path, charge them £4000 for a £2000 pound roof job.

But the latter get their very just comeuppance on Rogue Traders.

Not BrightHouse, who seem to actively give their victims no options but
the expensive bling / high end things (for their profit) then add the
interest hike. I can't afford those things myself, but at least I have a
head screwed on straight, and can make decisioned choices.

It's just a modern equivalent of the old door-to-door tallyman selling
Provident vouchers, isn't it?
