it will continue to prosper whilst there are enough fools to shop there

It isn't doing anything illegal, so I can't see what can be done

69.9% and 100% APR offers so that breadline kids can bling out on what
looks totally unnecessary (DJ mix consoles FFS) and leave state social
to pick up the mess.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bright...%28retailer%29

Last year ...

"In January 2015 Private Eye reported that BrightHouse had paid very
little UK corporation tax between 2007 and 2014 - less than £6m - after
revenues of £1.6bn and operating profits of £191m. According to Private
Eye, interest of £76m owed to a Luxembourg-registered subsidiary of
BrightHouse's owners Vision Capital had significantly reduced taxable
profits. In addition, records showed BrightHouse's '5 star' insurance to
be operated through a sister company based in Malta, where tax on
profits would in effect be no more than 5 per cent under Maltese law.
BrightHouse told Private Eye it complies with all relevant tax
regulations and that all its arrangements were arranged with HMRC"

Not illegal yes, but clearly should be looked at, never mind the
fascination others have with tax (not) paid by Google and all.

It is a credit shop masquerading as one that sells goods. Slightly better APR than loan sharks.

I'd suggest the real moral fault lies with the manufacturers, creating
products that are luxuries and then promoting them in a way that
encourages a keeping up with the Jones mentality.

I'd also suggest that they are reducing crime by reducing the demand for
loan sharks and back of the lorry sales in pubs.

Whilst they do make me uncomfortable, I think they are a symptom, rather
than a cause.

They had a telly in the shop window of my local branch, tuned to BBC 1
Analogue, after DSO in the area it was at least 3 weeks before they
retuned it to a DTT channel, so it just sat there with 'NO SIGNAL'
flashing on the screen.

"Bargain" compared to QuickQuid (1270% APR) or Wonga (was 5853% recently reduced to 1509%) (not that you can or are supposed to borrow for a year from a quick loan company)

Apart from the interest rates though, BrightHouse and similar shops often have higher base prices to start with.

as long as it has calculated these APRs correctly
