Default 1Gb download speed - in Canada

One of the world's duller countries is quite exciting for internet
connections. Where in Britain can we get 1GB down/50Mb up?

Where is the justification in having more that 5Gb down?

What do individual consumers use the excess for that is legal?

Streaming digital TV? Then add in the fact that households no longer
all sit round the telly watching the same program.... Then allow for 4k
growing......

Yes, but where in Canada can they actually get 1GB down/50Mb up?

Note the wording on that page:

Speeds up to: 1GB down/50Mb.

which probably means a speed between the max of the next fastest package
and that one. So, between 250 MB and 1GB.

That package is described as being suitable for more than 5 people
online simultaneously. It is not for one or two users at a time.

I came across it listening to a Canadian classical music internet station,
which has adverts in the style of the 1950s. The station streams at 320k.

you just use it less - faster.
instead of taking an hour to download something do it in a minute or so
- and then not use your connection.

Its normally due to having several devices running at once. If I could get
say 10m down and five up that would suit me, but it seems if you go for
slower you lose the up speeds.
