Need to be more specific to find the CPU

http://ark.intel.com/Search/Advanced?s=t&WiDi=true

But my fairly lowly Celeron N2840 with "just" Intel HD Graphics supports it.

CPU is Intel® Core™ i5-4210U, specs say supports Intel Wireless Display but
doesn't say if that's Miracast, WiDi or both.

WiDi is effectively Miracast

So if you switch the TV's source to "screen mirroring"

and click on the "connect" or "project" in the Win10 Action centre, what
happens?

You may need to click on "find other types of device" to find it for the
first time,

Using "connect" and "add devices" the TV shows up twice, as "Digital Media
Receiver" and "Television". The former appears to be connecting OK and this
lets me cast video & audio files, the latter brings up a "connecting"
message on TV then shortly after "not connected" with corresponding message
on laptop, I'm assuming this is why I can't mirror laptop screen. Have
tried factory reset on TV, no difference. Win 10 was a clean install on the
original HDD but I used Macrium Reflect to make an image which I restored to
a new SSD, old HDD removed. Everything seemed OK but I may still try a
format and reinstall of Win 10 in case something something got corrupted in
the imaging or transfer process. If it doesn't help I may just accept that
this feature might never work right. It's a feature I wouldn't use often but
it's frustrating that I can't get it to work.

Mine showed up as "Projector" once, I deleted that and the "Media
Receiver", it didn't connect to "Television" at first attempt, but it
did second time and then it adds an extra "Miracast Display Device" with
and extra "PnP Monitor" plus a "Widi Audio Device", then I can
extend/duplicate/etc the desktop to it

"not connected" with corresponding message on laptop

Mine says that occasionally :-(

Success at last! Decided to clean install Win 10 via USB pen drive from a
newly downloaded ISO, no real expectation it would fix the problem, more to
rule it out as a cause, but it connected on first try. I haven't updated
any drivers yet, all shows OK in Device Manager so I may just leave well
enough alone.
