Default KB3035583

If you have Windows 7 and get an optional update, check what it is. I
got KB3035583 today - again - and marked it as "Do not show" - again.
I've killed this one several times but it keeps coming back. It's the
one that puts that little square "Upgrade to Windows 10" icon near the
bottom right of the screen. If there is anybody in your household who
might click it accidentally and initiate an "upgrade" you don't want,
you need to be vigilant.

Although I have Windows Update enabled in Win7 services, malwarebytes stops
any notifications and prevents automatic downloads, so I never see anything
like that.

OTOH I have no problems using Win10. I have it installed on several PCs
including SWMBOs

If you like it, that's fine, but I've been trying it out on a spare
machine since an evaluation version became available several months
before the official release, so I think my opinion of it is fairly
well formed too.

I've had mixed results. Upgraded my Dell Latitude lap top from W7-Pro
to W10. Appeared to be fine, but I had all sorts of random freeze ups
and crashes. After 3.5 weeks I reverted back to W7. That was remarkably
smooth, only took 15 mins, and it was as if I'd never upgraded to W10.

SWIMO's Dell Dimension was a disaster, I bricked it, and spent a whole
weekend rebuilding Windows 7 (in the dog house)

Bought a new Lenovo Thinkpad, that came with 8.1. I upgraded it
straight-away to W10, that was a month ago, still (touchwood) fine.

Once they get to W10 SP1, I will upgrade my W7 net-book. If that works then I will upgrade the W8.1pro machine. At present IE 11 keeps freezing and that is a PITA.

Don't hold your breath, it's rolling updates all the way now, don't
expect any service packs. There has just been a "biggish" update from
build 10240 to build 10586 (and several minor updates since) as good a
point to jump on as any ...

Yes, the first problem I came across with SWIMO's Dell was no display,
although an external VGA fed monitor worked, so I was able to control
the damn thing still.

And even more so if you are using internet tethered to a mobile network on
pay as you go.
Actually, I've not seen it after uninstalling it the first time.

Both of our desk machines upgraded OK. The only real problem was that
CorelDraw 12 wouldn't work on Win 10. It couldn't deal with imported
bitmaps. I had to collect all my money together and go down to PC World
and buy CorelDraw 17...

Incidentally CorelDraw 17 is very good. A lot of improvements. A few
downsides, but nothing you can't get round.

Use GWX control panel, that'll kill it, and also remove any install
files M$ have surreptitiously downloaded to hidden directories on your
PC without telling you.
