Default Cancer in childhood

Some time ago there was a case where a young lad was 'kidnapped' and
his parents put in prison when they tried to get him treatment for a
brain tumour. The treatment and equipment were not available in the UK
so they tried to take him abroad.

In an identical case the parents of this lad are trying to raise
£150,000 to take their son to the US as the equipment needed isn't
available here.

Heart wrenching stuff. If you have a spare £xxx maybe consider
donating something?

In fairness, AIUI the situation wasn't simply that "the treatement and
equipment were not available in the UK". It was also said that the
"treatment" was more expensive and the medics questioned it would be (more)
effective and safe than the "treatment" on offer in the UK. Open to
question. So the situation may be more complex than presented by the meeja.

Alternatively, you could spare the money for the NHS and help *that*
determine and impliment the best affordable treatment *here*. Might be
better in the long run than giving the money to very costly hospitals in
the USA. If nothing else, could let the money pay for more children to be
treated than sending some to the USA.
