Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are reuniting to create an
all-new car show, exclusively for Amazon Prime. The show will be produced by
the trio's long time executive producer Andy Wilman. On working with Amazon,
Jeremy Clarkson said "I feel like I've climbed out of a bi-plane and into a
spaceship." The first show will go into production shortly and arrive
exclusively on Amazon Prime in 2016.

Do I want to spend £79 a year just to watch them? No, sorry.
I don't need Amazon Prime, I have enough unwatched stuff on the PVR to
last for years.

Tax avoiding Hamazon have commisioned three series straight out of the
starting blocks with no editoral control!

IMO, fool Amazon.

The thing about us Brits is.... we love stuff thats free.

Ok, so we pay the licence fee and whinge about it.
But then after that, all the stuff from the BBC is free.
Which previously included TG, which generated massive audiences, and having
already been paid for (by us) was then sold on around the world.

This is now no longer the case.
The product now has to turn a profit as soon as it begins.

And consider people will have to pay to view this, I suspect this will not
return an increase in subscriptions.
Yes, they do plan to sell it world wide after that, but, they're going to be
hard pressed to get it going.

And, forget ye not, its up against 'The Real Top Gear".
Which, if it lands on its feet, (J Button rumoured) may well return its old
viewing figures and previous world wide sales.

It appears to me, amazon think they've landed the 'infotainment' equivalent
of the Barclays Premier League, when really, they may have signed the Ice
Hockey Elite League!


There probably will be a surge to begin with, but once people get the "Do I
really have to continue paying £xx per month just for this one programme I
watch" urge..... will the large audiences last three series?

Erm, well good luck on that one matey.
I think there is a lot of consolidation yet to happen in the straming
online world. Nobody wants to pay several subs to different entities just to
watch telly. The only mugs thus far doing this are sports mugs with Sky etc,
but sooner or later people will just say, push off it will eventually appear
on the free channels or I t will get hacked and I'll get a cpy.

You don't even need a tv. its surprisingly easy to live for long periods
cut off from it.
I don't much care if I miss stuff any more its all such trivia in any case.

Ha ha - his ego is being well massaged then - just what he needed, the
poor little lamb.

In my experience -- or perhaps merely in my view -- everything that has
ever gone from the BBC to another channel has emerged worse. There's a
sort of magic about the Beeb ("quality", perhaps?); somehow linked to
the saying that some people know the price of everything, and the value
of nothing.

I think he nicked that line from Kenny Everett. When Everett left
Capital Radio in 1982 to re join the BBC, he said the difference
between the radio studios, was like going from a spaceship, into a
Lancaster bomber.
