Default Why no OTA recording and internet use possible?

I have a Panasonic PVR DMR-HWT130. It will record two Freeview channels
without problem, but will not allow internet (network) usage such as BBC
iPlayer if recording even just one channel OTA.

Do other Freeview PVRs have the same restriction? If so, why? Is it a
limitation of processor power or limited memory availability?

On my Humax, it is either connected to Freeview or to the internet, but
not both at the same time.

I also wish it would do both things at once.

Some such restrictions are because the device only has one (hardware)
MPEG decoder (for patent fee reasons), but that wouldn't apply here
because it doesn't need to decode the Freeview stream to record it.
It may just be poor design.

I just tried this on my BT Youview box, Humax DTRT2100, it will record 2
TV channels and play on demand at the same time.

I played around with the Humax, and I find that I can start to record a
Freeview programme and then go to the internet via the Portal; but once
on the internet, it is impossible to return to Freeview in any way
other than closing down the Portal completely.
So it does not have the same problem as the OP's.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like it is specific to Panasonic.
