My new player is a Panasonic S55 but I only get 2 channels to work. I have selected multi channel and have Dolby Digital Out enabled and DTS set to bitstream. How is the player connected to the receiver? If you are using a digital output (optical or coax) then you most likely have a wrong setting on the receiver (since you seem to have everything right on the player side). You mention both Dolby Digital and DTS; only one of these can be active at one time -- but if the player is set to "bitstream" then the receiver settings are the only ones that matter. Your receiver does decode DTS, right? JGM |

Your receiver does decode DTS, right? JGM I think that you are on the right track here. When I first hooked up my Panasonic S55S, I had problems getting Dolby 5.1 and DTS to play through my receiver. Then, I just fooled around with the Bitstream/PCM settings until everything worked. (It's handy to have a Dolby 5.1/DTS DVD that allows on the fly soundtrack switching, such as Roy Orbison _Black And White Night_.) This handy setup information is on page 21 of the Panasonic S55S owner manual: Bitstream (Factory preset for Dolby Digital): Select if the equipment you connected can decode the signal. PCM (Factory preset for DTS Digital Surround): Select if the equipment you connected cannot decode the signal. IMPORTANT If the equipment you connected cannot decode the signal, the setting must be changed to PCM. If not, signals the equipment cannot process will be output by this unit, causing high levels of noise which can damage your hearing and the speakers. Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround |

Once I restarted the DVD Dolby Digital started working. My receiver does
decode DTS so I'll leave DTS on bitstream. Thanks for your help. "Scot Gardner" wrote in message ... "JGM" wrote in message ...
