I've still got mine somewhere. It hasn't been used in mumble-mumble
years, though. Since approx. 1983/4, maybe.

40MB, that were luxury!

My Amstrad PC1640HD20 had 20MB, some people didn't know they were born!

I had two 150 Kbytes disks mounted in a 19" rack on a mini.

The first computer I ever used, in late 1968, was an Elliott 503.
Searching online, I found an advertising brochure for it:

PS: I don't suppose you know how to stop a chair squeaking do you?

Any KY Jelly to hand should fix most squeaks

My c drive is full to bursting. and I need to do something about freeing
up space.

Computer running w7 with 1TB divided between 2 HDs but giving 3 'disks'.
the majority of my programs save data to either d or e and recently a
1.5TB usb HD. All 4 disks are now full.

I do have a new 2TB usb HD and 2 other smaler USB HD 1TB to use but I
realy do not know where to start as far as C drive is concerned. Is
there any utility or preferred reading covering this problem.

I did free up quite a bit about a year ago but that has evaporated ( and
a couple of things were not happy with me) . I really do not want to
break the computer or the programs that are on C.

Any help please.

Empty the recycle bin.

Find out what junk you have been storing (are you really going to view all those XXX films again?) and delete them.

Repeat until plenty of free space.

Thanks in advance.

Gary

Look lad, my first computer had a hard drive that held 40MB, and my
cousin, who know all about computers, said, "I don't know what the hell
you need all that space for!"

So what the chuff have you got on your computer? I've just done a quick
calculation on my 1970s four-function calculator and it appears that you
have enough storage on your machine to fully describe the exact
positions as logged at 1 second intervals of all the legs and antennae
of all the invertebrates that have ever lived, from the dawn of the
universe to the present day.

Something wrong with your calculator Bill - there are over 10**13 krill alive right now and he has not even got that number of bits on his 1TB hard drive

Or could it be that you are a keen videographer, and have recorded
everything your family and all your relations have done, 24/7, since 1980?

Well even at SD resolution, his 1TB drive is only large enough to hold about two weeks' video or a few days at HD.

I suggest you solve your problem by use of the delete key.

Indeed.

Yes. Still have mine. Ricoh. Made from bamboo. (really.) I think I bought
it via the local co-op in the 1960s.

Minis were all the rage then. It was the film set in Rome that did it.
