I listened to a station on short wave the other day. Cannot remember where
from, but the gist of it was that computing power is now enough to create avatars of dead people where film or tapes exist of their visual and audio selves, in such a way that they can be made to do things and say things they never said when they were alive. Of course I don't know how good this , and presumably its not in real time, but the thought of bringing back dead stars is rather worrying, who gets the royalties etc? Besides, I bet they would not bring back anyone who is interesting, and even if they did, they might get sued by the dead persons estate if it was out of character. Food for thought though. It was only last year when a UK company demonstrated some artificial voices that sounded like the current and last US presidents. You could make the say anything. They do not intend to actually sell them, they were just using it as a demonstration of the principals. Brian -- From the Sofa of Brian Gaff Reply address is active |

It was done with Bob Monkhouse, a TV ad promoting awareness of Prostrate Cancer, using images of him, blended by CGI to make it appear as if it was a real performance. Yes, but I think it is a bit more sophisticated than that now.
Its all very worrying. Can you imagine the Two Ronnies reincarnated, or maybe Benny Hill? Hmm. Brian -- From the Sofa of Brian Gaff Reply address is active "Mark Carver" wrote in message ... Its already being done, even over here I understand.
There was an organ transplant quite recently. Nobleeding as there was no blood for nearly haldf an hour. Its also slightly done after serious accidents in special ambulances apparently, but that is not what I'm refering to. Last series of CSI the plot was that somone had ripped a normal member of the pulics videos and pitures from Facebook and remoddeled her as a sex site host for rather less than legal uses, and all hell broke out when the real person found out she was this person leading men astray and into blackmail territory etc. Good yarn of course.
