Just turned one of my TV sets on and it asks to do yet another rescan,
well did it and I now got Program 8 Made in Leeds back which disappeared
in yesterdays renumbering.

Are you others getting missing things back?

Do Freeview people know what they are doing?

Regards
David

Made in Leeds is obviously on a locally generated mux. Was the station
broadcasting at the time you did your retune?

Sounds like your first rescan was done before they'd finished moving
things around. I believe the advice is not to rescan before
mid-afternoon on the day in question.

Having read this thread thought I ought to. Donno why I bothered,
nearly as many channels saying "This channel has moved to ..." as
real ones.
Just 16 actual TV channels once you take out the +1's and HD versions
and 11 (BBC only) radio stations.

No idea, but not looked today. the extra station repeats are up in the 790s.
also, its now a lot easier to accidentally alight on the adult channels I
see, as they are three digit numbers of course.
What is the point of leaving all the old channels active with nothing on
them?
Surely the faster people can declutter it the better. I also think they
need to have a rule where there are no smart only channels in the main
group, only ones that work off air. I am not amused by having bt sport up in
the main group.

I didn't actually see the MHEG message itself before Wednesday, but now
I'm getting a message that if I didn't do a retune I should have.

and 11 (BBC only) radio stations.

101 TV channels, 30 radio and 69 data here (the intended ones from
waltham with 38 duplicates from sutton coldfield and belmont) of which
there are 13 pairs of HD/SD channels, and 14 "+1" or "+24" channels and
4seven which lets face it is really a "+several" channel.

Yes they could have arranged things much better:

- put all the "proper" channels at the beginning of the list
- put the shopping channels such as Gems TV, QVC, Ideal World, The Store,
Rocks & Co, Jewellery Channel in another group
- put the adult channels in a separate group, maybe beyond all the other
channels
- put the non-broadcast, internet-only channels in a separate area beyond
all Freeview broadcast channels

I discovered that with Windows Media Centre you can "disable" a channel (ie
delete it from the list) so I've deleted all the adult and shopping
channels.

I imagine they've left the 7x and 8x channels (kids and news) active for a
short time to encourage people to learn the new numbers, so that anyone who
looks for BBC News on 80 knows what number to use in future, rather than
just finding that the number which they know has simply disappeared. I
presume the old instances of these channels use little/no bandwidth because
they are just still frames. It's a shame that there isn't a rule that says
that every channel in the EPG, even if it's not yet broadcasting proper
programmes, must at least display a still slide saying what the channel will
broadcast, rather than some of them giving a permanent black screen.
