They are also in Arizona, and I maybe in New Mexico?

What is it you wanted to do with it that the dealbreaker was USB access?

He mentioned he wanted to do d/l the listings over USB, since he doesn't
have a phoneline (or apparently a USB-Ethernet adapter).

... in my area Fry's has several brands for about $30, complete
with a built-in 4-port Ethernet hub or switch (one port for the PC,
one for the TiVo, and a WAN port for the cable modem or DSL modem).

They're definitely in the "mixed blessing" category, I think. They
have a lot of interesting stuff, but finding it is often a real
hassle... their stocking is somewhat inconsistent. The people who
work there do seem to be generally competent to look up a specific
item in the store computer (_if_ you know exactly what you are looking
for) and tell you whether there's supposed to be one in stock or not
(and which other stores might have one), but finding it is often
another matter entirely. Don't expect the Fry's employees to be able
to give you technical information about what you are buying... they're
in the same general class-of-cluefulness as the average Radio Shack
employee.

Fry's has a good product-return policy (they don't ask a lot of
questions about why). This is both good (for the buyer) and bad (a
lot of the product on the shelves is marked as having been purchased,
returned, "guaranteed" by Fry's to be OK, but not infrequently it
turns out to be missing something in the box).

The current joke doing the rounds is,

"What's the best way to go shopping at Fry's?"

"Send somebody else."

Hehehe...

Got a link finally:
http://www.frys.com/localframe.html

California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Texas and Washington

For the record, this is Fry's Electronics, not Fry's Food and Drug (which
happens to be the Kroger chain in Arizona...).

The explanations offered here are more trouble than I believe Tivo is worth.
It went back to CC today!

Getting a USB/Ethernet frob and plugging one end of it into
your Tivo and the other end into your network is a
lot of trouble?
