I currently have 7 months left on my dtv contract. If I were to buy a dtivo
and activated it makeing my contract 1 year would I have to pay for the extra sub still or could I de activate my primary reciever? I ask because we only have 1 tv and the extra reciever wouldn't do us any good, but I would like the dtivo.... Ted |

The existing receiver is yours as long as you fulfill the year obligation. Just call Directv when you get the new receiver with the serial number and card number. |

I took advantage of the "movers special" in June, which has a one year commitment, and replaced a receiver with a DTivo in December. No "early termination" was mentioned. I'm not even committed on the Tivo, since I bought it at Circuit City and wasn't eligible for the new subscriber rebate of $50. -- --- Clarence A Dold - Hidden Valley (Lake County) CA USA 38.8-122.5 |

They will start you on a new one year committment if they install a new Dish or make a new run for your two inputs. |

You don't even need to keep the new receiver active. I've bought 2 HDVR2's
activated them for a day or two then deactivated them. As long as you keep DTV going for 1 yr after purchase it doesn't matter what reeiver is active. "Ted" wrote in message ... "Nomen Nescio" ] wrote in message ... I'm ashamed to have to tell you, but I'm sure he does that to sell them for a profit. Buy a couple of them for $99+tax at Circuit City (perhaps even with a $50 mail-in rebate = net cost of ~$58.00) and then sell them on EGay for $150+. Make $100+ with very little work. Completely legal but very, very slimy. I'd have to take a shower after being in the same room with this guy if that's the case. These all require activation within 30 days ... and they take a credit card number to enforce it. Further, it is linked to the buyer's account, which forces a contract of 12 months. So, it would be pretty stupid to sell these things on Ebay unless the $150 hit per unit for not activating it is an acceptable risk. Tom Veldhouse |
