Default BBC 1 HD to take EPG 101 on Sky and Freesat HD boxes

From Monday BBC 1 SD regions will be relegated to Ch 141 on HD Sky and
Freesat boxes, with BBC 1 HD taking 101

Common sense at last

Although, I'm not so sure about the BBC 1 English regions, it's a bit
ambiguous reading it again ?

What will a non-HD set or box do on Freesat?

Another thing so when watching 6pm BBC1 News on Freesat 101 HD at 6:30 pm
will we loose picture and get the red screen and have to try to find the SD
version?
Regards
David

but no swapping of BBC3 and BBC4 SD for BBC3 and BBC4;

No, that is odd not to be also happening isn't it ?

and ITV SD for ITV HD
etc. which would make even more sense.

Yes, except there are far fewer ITV HD regions, than SD regions, so in
many areas the wrong ads would end up on the 'primary' EPG positions.
Same applies for C4. However no reason why there can't be a swap where
there is an exact regional match between the versions

On Dutch, American owned, Ziggo cable all the prime channels are now HD, the SD
channels are hidden away in the 900 range of channels.

There's far more common sense generally on the EU mainland.

Well yes, the clue will be the on-screen caption that will tell you
where to find it

That's with a Sky box?

Indeed. Those EPG numbers seem to be Sky's, Freesat's are different of
course, so are Freesat's being unified with Sky's, or is that more
detail missing, or is it happening for Freesat at all ?

What's happened to attention to detail and clarity at the BBC ?

So many questions, and still an agonising 48 hours left to find out !

good idea - my parents automatically go to 101
only thing is they will get confused it they still have no local news -
unless in big letters it says 'go to 141' onscreen.
hope 2,3 and 4 follow suit -especially as they have far less regional
opt outs.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced the BBC 1 swaps won't be
happening in England, and possibly no swaps at all (yet) for Freesat. Someone
in BBC Reception Advice has got the wrong end of the stick I think.

That has already happened (a few days ago) in Northern Ireland.
