The world seems to be pretty boring according to a friend of mine. He wants
to buy a tv with a green coloured cabinet to match some decor. Do any manufacturers make one? I did point out that surely its better to buy a tv on its specs, facilities and its picture quality rather than what colour the cabinet is. After all there is hardly any cabinet these days, is there? Regards David And what plastic casing there is on modern equipment tends to be *glossy* plastic. Where did the current fad for making everything highly reflective come from? Cases, laptop/TV screens - they are all glossy. Grrrr! I remember searching far and wide for a laptop with a matt screen so I could use it in the car or on a train without seeing myself and the car/train windows reflected in the screen. When that needed replacing there were no matt-screen laptops so I had to bite the bullet. Likewise the case is reflective glossy plastic which shows every scuff and scratch. |

I once helped to move some hi-fi loudspeakers that had been painted
green. I recognised them as a KEF design that was normally available in several wood finishes with a black grill down the middle, so it appeared that the wooden parts had been painted. Actually, it was a pale green with random flecks of red, presumably intended to look like green onyx marble, and the speakers had also been fitted with little gold lions' paw feet at the corners. I've never seen anything like it in any hi-fi catalogue, and I guess you'd also search in vain to find it as a standard option on a TV set. If your friend is determined to get a green TV he may have to modify one himself. Rod. The best coloured cabinet was the Murphy 'Acoustic Deluxe' Television, they don't make them like that anymore! http://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryofthewo...SH-zeI_YNzX3qA Thank Gawd! QED! :-) The last thing you need is a rather distracting bezel, especially one that is using a bright primary colour such as red or green. The 'content' is barely interesting enough these days for most programmes as it is without having to face stiff competition for the viewer's attention by way of a 'high visibility colour scheme' within said viewer's sight. A darker neutral colour (i.e some dark shade of grey) is the best option for such things as TV sets and computer monitors. -- Regards, J B Good |
