... This doesn't bother me because I quit watching all of NBCs lame shows ! Hey, not all of NBCs shows suck. The ones on Wednesday are pretty good, and I'm looking forward to Lyon's Den (if Rob Lowe left West Wing for it, I have to assume it won't suck). Scrubs is pretty good, too, despite their funny Thursday scheduling. However, Scrubs is 2 minutes short, thus it doesn't spill over into something else's slot and it doesn't cause scheduling problems. Ken |

I read about 20 years ago that, in Japan, TV shows are not locked into 30
minute blocks. OTOH, this is why God created DirecTIVOs with 2 tuners! We have to realize that the big media companies are run, for the most part, by people who don't really understand the technology they're trying to manage or, more to the point, the law of unintended consequences. Congress, on the other hand, understands the law of unintended consequences but doesn't care. "Karen Wheless" wrote in message om... Did anyone else get the Tivo message today about the NBC lineup? When I turned on my Tivo this morning, the message came onto the screen immediately, which surprised me. I don't remember the exact wording, but it said something like "NBC has used unconventional start times for many of their Thursday night shows, so check your To Do list and Recording History to make sure you aren't missing anything". I was pretty startled that Tivo would send out a message like that, especially since it mentioned NBC directly. (Doesn't Tivo have some kind of joint agreement with NBC?) It seemed like a criticism of NBC's methods. I think NBC is stupid for changing the ER start time to 9:59 (which brings it into conflict with CSI, the #1 show on TV - how many Tivo users will just cancel ER instead of missing CSI or setting up a manual recording?) but I was even more surprised to see Tivo sending out a high priority message that seemed pointedly critical of NBC. Rob Lowe was tossed from West Wing when he demanded the same pay as Martin Sheen, saying that he was just as big on the show. But, you're right about wanting to see it... ;-) -- --- Clarence A Dold - Hidden Valley (Lake County) CA USA 38.8-122.5 |

I don't know...if West Wing had been 35 minutes (out of 43 total for the program) of Rob Lowe instead of the ensemble it is, I think it would have been a lot closer to "suck" than it is. Lyon's Den will be 35 minutes of Rob Lowe, and will be more soap opera-like, according to reviews. -- Jeff Rife | 301-916-8131 | http://www.nabs.net/Cartoons/Dilbert/TechSupport.gif |

Karen I'd like to complain/comment to NBC about this but, can't find a link for email to them for this. I found MSNBC, SHOPNBC, NBCSPORTS, CNBC and etc. If anyone has a link and posts it I'll definately send them feedback. TIA, Dave |

From Zap2It and TiVo guide data: 8:00pm (48 min) Friends 8:48pm (39 min) Will & Grace 9:27pm (30 min) Coupling 9:59pm (61 min) ER In case anyone is interested, that extra 18 minutes of "Friends" managed to give us a whole 7-1/2 minutes more *show*. Yes, that's right, there were 29-1/2 minutes of show (including the opening and closing credits) and 18-1/2 minutes of commercials or previews. Normal shows are 22 and 8, or 73% "show". "Friends" was a mere 61% "show". -- Jeff Rife | "Don't try this at home, kids. This should 301-916-8131 | be done only by trained professional idiots." | | -- Plucky Duck, "Hollywood Plucky" |

In this case, they ran more acts ("snippets" in your post), and each of the acts was a bit shorter than a normal one. A regular "Friends" episode is a teaser, two acts, and a tag. This one was a teaser, 3 acts, and a tag. -- Jeff Rife | "My God, what if the secret ingredient is people?" 301-916-8131 | "No, there's already a soda like that: Soylent Cola." | "Oh.
