Default Replacing old A Drive/leaving upgrade b drive but still shows only 6hrs

My main a drive recently died and while I'm trying to do the upgrade for the
new replacement drive, I stuck in the original drive that came with my
Phillips. I figured that Tivo would combine the original drive with the 80
gig that's still in there and (presumably)working but when I went to system
information it's showing up as the 6rs (high quality) that it would be
WITHOUT the 80 gig. Is this a problem that will fix itself when I do the
upgrade? Or is it that I will have to do something to the 2nd drive as
well?

TiVo will not do that by itself.
You'll need to put both drives in an x86 PC and run a special program
to marry the two drives. Sounds like you left out this step:
mfsadd -x /dev/hdc /dev/hdb

It's described in the Hinsdale HOW-TO:

OK, thanks. I've actually decided to scrap BOTH of the old drives instead
of just replacing the one that I know is fried, because I figure the 2nd one
is probably close behind. So instead of having a 120 gig and an 80, I'll
just put two 120 gig drives. The thing that makes me crazy is that these
120 drives are now so much cheaper than the 80 gig drives that I originally
bought to upgrade the first time. Damn inflation is all backwards!

Well, there is a Mac version of the program too, I haven't used it.

So you don't *need* an x86 anymore, AFAIK. (Though I guess whenever I get
around to buying a 2nd drive -- likely soon since I've got a 60 gig drive in
there now with a bunch of stuff save-until-I-deleted until I get a DVD
writer.. and it'll be cramped when the new season starts... anyway, when
I do this, I'll try CarbonTivoBlesser.)

Actually that is just a free market working the way it is supposed to.

Inflation is an artificial concept introduced to allow the government to
"buy now and pay later." They just print more money to drop the value of the
dollar and see the savings in the long run.

If the amount of money in circulation were a fixed quantity the buying power
of the dollar would continue to increase proportionally to the increase of
goods and services that are competing for your money.

I apologize in advance for posting "off-topic"
