As a result of privatisation in NL there are no post offices. If you
want to send registered mail, it has to be taken to the local Video

You still hsave video shops?

Same old sign on a place that rents DVDs nowadays.

I can't say I've seen a shop that rents DVDs lately.

You don't live where I do.

Specialist shops?

Old fashioned shops.

At one time if you were coming back from Holland customs would look to
see if you had any videos.

but more probably drugs.

Last time we came back from Belgium we were booked on a coach to London.
After a while someone came to the coach to tell the driver that three
passengers would not be with him due to 'The White stuff'

Earlier this year I began to hear 14 bleeps every evening at 7.30. I
assumed that they were coming from the computer and at first thought it
was coming from the BIOS or from some program that sounded an alarm. Not
finding any reason for it I turned the computer off just before the time
but the bleeps continued.. I had also found that it also beeped at
7.30am. When the clocks changed in the Spring the evening bleeps changed
to 8.30 but the morning ones remained at 7.30,
The TV, PVR and Digital STB are fairly close to the computer so they
were then thought to be the culprit, I unplugged each one separately and
then all of them together but still the bleeps continued. I unplugged
the phone as well although it is in the wrong position to be the source
of the sound.
Over time the bleeps have become a few minutes later.
I tried this question on a computer NG and on a technical forum without
anyone making a suggestion to cure it.
Any thoughts?
Derek

W hat was the final outcome? Or have you given up trying to solve it
and we can all rest in peace?

SNAFU.
I E-Mailed Asus the MB maker last week for their opinion. So far just an
acknowledgement.
Be interesting though to see what happens when the clocks change in October.

Is it definitely the PC? Moving it temporarily to another room would seem
the obvious way of confirming this.

As it has been said (I think several times), it's highly unlikely that a
mains-powered PC will be capable of producing any sounds at all when
it's powered down - and even more so if the mains supply to it is
switched off. Presumably the OP has actually/eventually done this?
