Hi all, I've got a Hauppauge Freesat DVB-S2 card, which I operate under WinTV. Unfortunately, all of the channel numbers it generates in a scan seem to be arbitrary Freesat channels, not the ones displayed on a standard Freesat set (i.e. 303 for this channel). Does anyone know what channel or method I can use to get this channel to work/record under either Hauppauge's own WinTV or, failing that, in DVB Viewer? Surely if it is branded as a 'Freesat' receiver then it has to comply with the 'Freesat' specification, with standard channel numbers? -- |

Are you searching for "All" or "FTA only" ? It is not uncommon for some channel bouquets to flag FTA services as encrypted if they are not among the services intended to be selected via the EPG rather than by pressing a button (e.g. the red button in this case) while watching a parent channel. There also seem to occasional differences in the way that encrypted channels are detected and treated by various boxes; IIRC some won't touch anything with the encryption flag set. |

Some older FreeView boxes (like my ancient Thomson) seem to be incapable of correctly allocating some of the standard channel numbers while correctly and consistently allocating others. |

No. it's a DVB-S2 receiver and can be pointed at any appropriate satellite. Freesat is just a marketing gimmick specific to the UK. |

Yes, and if the OP wants the BBC Red Button HD service he just needs to scan the appropriate transponder. Details on en.KingofSat.net and similar websites. In DVBViewer you might need to update the satellite transponder list. -- Michael Chare |

So your original posting that said "I've got a Hauppauge ****FREESAT**** DVB-S2 card" wasn't strictly correct. If you wish to change the channels numbers then maybe you ought to be looking at editing the appropriate registry entries. -- |
