Default OT. Computer to Monitor connection?

Computer has DVi and HDMi outputs monitor has them too as inputs. (small
HDMi on computer.)
Presently got 2 adaptors into the DVi's and a D15 cable in use, and using
the top Resolution of 1920x1088 (recommended)
What are the differences between methods, I know DVi does not carry sound
and HMDi does, but I'm not wanting sound to the monitor.
Can see the DVi connector far more secure mechanically with its fixing
screws.
So before I go out and get a DVi to DVi cable or a small HDMi to normal HDMi
I would like to know if any other differences please?

The main point of my post is which gives best picture and Resolution range
and highest?

Thanks
David

If your monitor or TV is 1920x1080, then the graphics card in your
computer should be set to produce that, and in most cases will set
itself automatically anyway. You'll only make things worse by setting
it to anything different. The choice of HDMI, DVI or 15-pin VGA will
make no visible difference whatsoever.

Graphics cards with a choice of output connectors can usually produce
video on both/all of them simultaneously. Plug in two monitors and
you'll find some extra functions in the display settings in Windows
where you can choose whether the two screens duplicate the same video
or split the video between them like two halves of one big screen.
Have fun.

they both give the same - they are passing a digital program from the
computer to the pc and will either work, or not in such a way that it
will be apparent - picture breakup, sparklies.
despite what vendors of expensive cables say, one wont improve picture,
clarity, sharpness, you name it.

DVI won't support copy protection (HDCP).

My adaptor supports both, but not at the same time.
It's a configurable option.
