There is, but neither have lit up when anything is pressed. As the remote itself did work to start with, I'm doubtful that's the problem. But it's certainly worth a try - I'll poke those when I get home. This link indicates they are using the same remote as TVonics used previously on a number of other models http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/tv-recorde...view-49304783/ If none of the switches marked TV DTR or DVD light up when another button on the remote is pressed then your batteries are knackered, inserted incorrectly, or the remote is faulty. Once that is sorted then pressing DTR just once will restore correct remote functionality. All further button presses elsewhere on the remote should light the DTR button. -- |

Very interesting, because that neither of those buttons lit up when I was setting the machine up and it was responding to the remote then. Maybe that could indicate a faulty remote. The remote thinks it's doing something though, when I press any button I can see a green light inside it lighting up. -- Sara cats cats cats cats cats |

I've a feeling it's going to be going back to RS. -- Sara cats cats cats cats cats |

Or just look at the viewing screen (phone or camera). From my experience, the most usual RC fault is the batteries are not making good contact (or, of course, are flat). In order to find out if the RC is actually doing anything at all, hold near a portable (ferrite rod) longwave radio (medium wave usually OK too). Press some of the buttons, and if it's showing any signs of life, you should hear some blurpity-blurpity-blurp noises from the radio. -- Ian |

"Sara" wrote in message ... I bought one of these as a refurb from Richer Sounds at the weekend. Looks OK, decent picture, sounds OK, easy to set up. Now however it's ignoring the remote control. I've put new batteries in the remote, tried a different TVonics remote and rebooted the box (unplugged it for half an hour and plugged it in again). Does anyone have any what else to try? It'd be a shame to have to return it for something like this. TVonics no longer exist and the company that seems to have taken them over will only give help/advice on current models, which this is not. -- Billy doesn't clean his paws often enough. Mucky cat. Use your mobile phone to see if the remote is doing anything. Clean the sensor on the front of the telly. |
