Some time ago in this hallowed forum I predicted that DIY TV aerials
would appear after DSO. These would be omnidirectional.

I was building aerials way back in the 70s. It really was not rocket science
omni or otherwise. Indeed my late father actually had all the calculations
needed in a diary from the 19450s.You just scaled them to suit the
frequency. Could be very handy for old band III as one could just make it
specific to one channel and get good gain for yagis.
However I'm a bit less enthusiastic about omni directional for Freeview and
the reason is tha many people can receive multiple transmitters and not
always are the best ones found first which means loads of high numbered
channels that may or may not be the worst signals.

I remember that sort of thing from the seventies. A little coil of wire or
something and a short lead to the TV, with a money back guarantee.

I think they just relied on inertia selling.

Do you rotate it through 90 degrees for vertical polarisation?

£30 what a bargain! I must get up to Asdas

Looks basically similar to the omni-direction aerials fitted to most
touring caravans these days. I suppose that they work - after a fashion
- but they wouldn't be my first choice for a permanent installation!

Judging from the condition of the packaging, it has already been tried
and returned by a dissatisfied user.

He says it's unidirectional. I note that the 'dome' is not completely
circular, so it could be true.

I photographed one of those a year ago and uploaded it to Flickr. No
doubt I meant to post it here, but it seems I forgot.
