Excellent!

I wonder how many people would need to hang on the end of the ladder to
lift the front wheels of the van off the ground?

How much effort would it take to rip the roof-bars out of their
mountings?

"Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I
shall rip the lid off this van." Archimedes

I think he actually said "??ste ?? ??a ???? a??et? e???? ???????
d??st?a ?a? ?a ?p?????? st? ?p??? ??a ?a t? t?p??et?sete, ?a? e??
?a s??se? t? ?ap??? ap? a?t? t? f??t???."

Mine was a fairly free translation since my ancient Greek is a tad
rusty.

If he wants to complain that I've miss-quoted him, he's only got to
speak up.

"All of our work is fully guaranteed, with no VAT charged."

Is that legal?

He isn't VAT reg so he just passes on the VAT on the parts.

It is possible to dream up a way in which it might be legal (other than
the obvious of the entire business being below the VAT threshold of, I
think, 77,000).

Imagine that they operate as two organisations - one sells aerials,
cable, fittings, etc., the other supplies a rigging service. The rigging
service might be below VAT threshold while the supplies side is over. Or
even both might be below.

So the _work_ is with no VAT charged - but there is normal VAT on all
materials.

Whether they'd be able to keep that going is another matter. HMRC might
deem it to be one operation.

I can tell you for certain that they would.

The installation in the pictu
Contract UHF aerials; no balun; group A has a reflector less that 0.5
wavelength at ch 21.
Top aerial has loose cable.
Middle aerial is an end mounted 15 element -- rather likely that the
boom will snap near the clamp.
Too much weight there for a 1.25" mast IMO.
Is the FM aerial upside down?

Bill

What do you suppose the aerials are pointing at?
they are both horizontally polarised so they aren't pointing at
repeaters are they?

Google Translate hasn't got an Ancient Greek option. :-)

But if you'd like to let us know what he'd really have said... :-)

They'll be on two main stations, but the angle between them and the ch
groups don't add up to it being in S Yorks. The FM on the same Tx as the
Gp is odd for this area as well. It's a picture they've 'borrowed' I expect.

That's a lot of dinghy. What was it? (Mine is only about 6...)

I have some spam emails which reckon they can help to enlarge yours...

I believe that you're referring to a product that's intended to "Give
you more wood.". It'll look a little odd, assuming it works, if the
mast is an aluminium one to start with.

Just stop and look at the aerials for a minute.

Assuming he is a Sheffield area installer then it is most likely
the aerials in the picture relate to Sheffield, so it begs some
questions:-

Where could the TV aerials be pointing? As they are both
horizontal one would assume two main stations so we are talking
Emley, Bilsdale, Belmont, or Waltham. The aerial pointing to the
right looks - note I say looks - to have closer element spacing
than the other and possibly a blue plug in the end of the boom.
We thus must assume Waltham, which means the other is pointing at
Belmont, and indeed since Belmont also transmits VHF radio then
that aerial would be pointing the 'right' way as well.

But Belmont was A group and is now wideband which the
left-pointing aerial most certainly is not.

Another blagged off picture methinks?
