I gather that, as from tomorrow, the BBC HD channel will become BBC2 HD
and will shadow BBC2 SD - and will presumably no longer carry selected
BBC3 and BBC4 programmes.

Will I need to re-tune the HD mux on my Humax HDR-FOX-T2? Will series
recordings which I have set up for BBC HD (mainly BBC2) still work?

Looking at the EPG and tabbing forward in time, all the BBC HD entries
from 6am tomorrow are BBC 2 ones, so I think all that is happening as
far as the EPG data is concerned is that the channel name is changing
from BBC HD to BBC 2 HD. So in theory any series links for BBC 2
simulcasts that exist now, should remain intact from tomorrow.

However, I think it would be wise to check tomorrow that your list
of BBC HD/2 series link progs is still intact ?

They should reuse Channel 37 (vacated by 5 analogue) for BBC 3 HD and BBC 4
HD. Also BBC News HD to keep up with Sky News HD. I think BBC News is
already produced in HD now they've moved to new studios.

You've not seen the joint Arqiva/BBC/C4 proposal for two T2 muxes in the
'600 MHz' band ?

*****

I do not see any point in having BBC 24 News or Sky News in HD, also we not
got FIVE in HD have we.
Yes I believe they do not want to go HD if HD is the future then they should
be encouraged to.

But none of this is happening yet, is it? So presumably there'll be no
HD on BBC3 or BBC4 until another T2 mux materialises?

Of course it is quite likely I'm not reading correctly but the above

off through DSO. For Sutton C33 and C35 and low power and am I correct in
thinking those channels are too low for band B? If I am, I don't think I
need to concern myself with it as I will not be able to receive it.

Well, pre DSO nearby Lichfield carried the HD Mux on Ch 34 at low power, and
many received that OK on their Group B aerials in the Messed Widlands ?

There is no BBC 3 or 4 in HD on Freesat.

Is there any logical reason why Newsnight Scotland does not appear on
BBC Two HD? BBC One Scotland is an HD channel. STV occupies the
'ITV' position on the multiplex. Clearly there is a special multiplex
for Scotland so why is Newsnight Scotland not part of it?

That said, in the run-up to the referendum for those of us who have
already decided ability to 'opt-out' of Newsnight Scotland might be
very welcome :-)

It would require BBC 2's playout suite in Glasgow to be upgraded to HD.
So that's money, plus extra codecs and other digital 'glue' in Glasgow
and London. If a BBC 2 HD Scotland was provided on DTT and Cable
in Scotland, then to maintain the BBC's 'platform' neutrality, space
would have to be found on Astra for a wodge of HD capable bandwidth.
Would that be appropriate expenditure ?

And if BBC 2 HD Scotland, what about similar for Wales and NI ?
What about the 12 English BBC 1 regions, that are still SD only ?

It would open a political and financial Pandora's Box I think ?
